This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change. Social Media Response Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification. The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms. They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance. Size Classification Modifications Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18. User Stories Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said. Necessary Adjustments A different user, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products". "Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated. Platform Context The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users. It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
